About
Sailing came first.
Vítor was born in Ilhabela, Brazil's sailing capital, and has been sailing since he was seven.
At nineteen he crossed the Atlantic to work with António Viegas, an Olympic coach with experience at Sydney, Moscow and Atlanta. They worked together for eighteen years producing sails, covers and rigging.
In 2023 Vítor founded VM Sailmakers in Lagos, bringing the technical depth of his time at North Sails UK to every project that leaves the workshop.
Because understanding a sail starts with understanding the water.

Formed at North Sails UK and built with Contender sailcloth, Gore Tenara thread and a 366 Italian machine — proven technique and materials for sails that last.
