This policy explains what happens to the information you send to VM Sailmakers through this website.
Who we are
VM Sailmakers, based in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, is responsible for the personal data collected through this website.
What we collect, and what each field is for
Only what you choose to send us through the quote request form. Nothing is collected in the background.
Name — so we can address you properly in our reply. Used for nothing else.
Email address — the address we send the quote or answer to. It is never added to a mailing list and we send no newsletters.
Phone / WhatsApp number — optional. Used only if a call or WhatsApp message is the quicker way to clarify something about your sail.
Boat name and boat type — optional. Technical context that helps us assess the job and price it correctly.
Your message — read only by VM Sailmakers in order to understand and answer your enquiry.
Photo attachments — up to three images of your sail, cover or rigging, used solely to assess the work. They are not published, not used on this website and not shared publicly.
Why we use it
Exclusively to read, assess and respond to your enquiry, and to carry out any work you subsequently ask us to do. The legal basis is your request to receive a quote (steps taken at your request prior to a contract), and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes and we do not profile you.
How it is stored and who can see it
The form is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our own secure backend. The enquiry is stored in a private database that is not readable from the browser and is not exposed through any public address; only our server, using credentials that never leave it, can read or write it.
A copy of the enquiry, including any photographs, is emailed to VM Sailmakers so we can answer you. Our email provider processes that message on our behalf under a data-processing agreement.
Attachments are never stored in a public folder and there is no public link to them. Only VM Sailmakers can see them.
Access is limited to the people at VM Sailmakers who need it to prepare your quote or do the work.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. Only technically necessary functionality is used, which is why no consent banner is shown. If analytics or marketing tools are added in future, consent will be requested before any such script loads.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept only for as long as needed to answer them and to manage any resulting work, plus any period required by Portuguese law for commercial records. Photographs attached to an enquiry are deleted once the job is closed, or sooner if you ask us to.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may object to its processing. Contact us using the details on this website and we will respond. You also have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD).
